United for Progress: Dinas Addresses Security Concerns in Community Forum

The Municipal Government of Dinas, Zambonaga del Sur, joined by the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion, Philippine National Police, and National Alliance for Democracy (NAD), held a Community Peace Forum dubbed as “Kalinaw Para sa Dinas” on March 25, 2024, at Women’s Training Center, Municipal Complex, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur.

The forum served as a platform for open discussion on prevalent peace and order issues in the municipality, particularly the use of illegal drugs. It was attended by the Municipal Mayor of Dinas, Hon. Eleazar Asoy; 53IB Alpha Company Commander 1Lt. Luke Creighton Patacsil; Dinas Chief of Police PMaj. Mario Regidor; DepEd District Supervisor Mr. Jomar Anig; religious leaders, moro elders, barangay chairmen from all 30 barangays of Dinas, and Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members.

Recognizing that a united front is essential in combating this challenge, the forum highlighted the collective responsibility in building a peaceful and drug-free Dinas.

The forum also delved into practical strategies to address the drug problem. Attendees explored the implementation and enforcement of curfews, increased police visibility throughout Dinas, the establishment of strategic military checkpoints, and most importantly, the empowerment of Community Volunteer Organizations (CVOs) to actively engage residents.

The “Community Peace Forum: Kalinaw para sa Dinas” marks a significant step towards a brighter future for Dinas. Through continued collaboration and active participation from all stakeholders, the community can build a stronger, more peaceful future free from the grip of drugs.
