53rd Infantry Battalion Collaborates on Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay Program in ZamboSur

The 53rd Infantry Battalion (53IB) of the Philippine Army together joins Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office (ZSPPO), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) in a joint planning activity to harmonize the data on Geographically Isolated and Depressed Areas (GIDA) in connection with the PNP’s implementation of its Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay Program (RPSB) held at Camp Abelon, Lumbia, Pagadian City, ZDS on 13 March 2024.

The RPSB is a program designed to sustain the gains of the AFP’s Community Support Program and the DILG/PNP led Retooled Community Support Program used to clear former NPA-affected communities. RPSB ensures that GIDAs benefits from constant PNP presence thereby eliminating possibility of NPA re-incursion. It also aims to address criminality, lawlessness and illegal drug proliferation in isolated and depressed areas.

The participation of various government agencies alongside the 53IB and PNP exemplifies the whole-of-nation approach championed by the administration. This collaborative spirit fosters a unified community where all stakeholders work together to ensure lasting peace and stability in Zamboanga del Sur.
