STRENGTHENING RESILIENCE, EMBRACING UNITY: 53IB Honored As Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Champion

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-9 (RDRRMC-IX) proudly conferred the DRRM Champion Award to the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion during the Regional Disaster Resilience Summit Cum NDRM 2023 Culmination Ceremony held at the Empress Hall, Four Queens Resort, Pagadian City on August 8, 2023.

The prestigious award was given by OCD-IX Regional Director Dir. Ramon Ochotorena in grateful appreciation of the 53IB’s invaluable actions and indispensable efforts in championing DRRM in the Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly in the field of disaster response and operations, and for its selfless support to the mandates of RDRRMC IX that greatly contribute to achieving “Safer, Adaptive, and Disaster Resilient Filipino Communities toward Sustainable Development” for the year 2023.

The 53IB expresses its heartfelt gratitude to OCD-IX and RDRRMC-IX. The Battalion likewise reaffirms its commitment to upholding the highest standards of disaster preparedness and response, contributing to the overall safety and security of Zamboanga del Sur.
