The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) participated in “Summer Youth Camp 2023” initiated by the Regional Peace Connect Youth Alliance (RPCYA) in line with the Linggo ng Kabataan held on August 5, 2023, at LGU Beach, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.
The Summer Youth Camp aims to make the youth aware on Communist NPA Terrorist deception, disaster response, environmental conservation, and instill and develop the youth’s volunteerism, patriotic citizenship, and leadership skills.
During the activity, 53IB, together with Roldan Antubo, a Friend Rescued (FR) who surrendered to the ZDS PTF-ELCAC, conducted lectures on Communist NPA Terrorist Deception and CPP-NPA recruitment on schools, where the youth are most vulnerable.
Likewise, Roldan also shared his powerful testimony on how he was recruited by the CPP-NPA and how the youth can protect themselves from the enemy’s recruitment.
Also invited during the activity were the Philippine National Police, Office of Civil Defense, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and Youth for Peace and Development.
