UNITY AND RECONCILIATION: 53IB Joins Rido Settlement in Land Dispute between Amis Clan, Malaco Clan, and Maguindanao Clan
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) joins in the successful rido settlement between the Amis Clan, Malaco Clan, and Maguindanao Clan. The resolution was achieved during a gathering held at the Session Hall of Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur, on June 14, 2023.
Cpt. Bahnarin K. Camsa, the Executive Officer of 53IB join hands with Hon. Avelino Yrauda, Municipal Mayor; Hon. Dang Mariano, Board Member; Hon. Omar Buluan, Vice-Mayor; Mr. Mustapha “Pang” Piang, Subanen and Muslim Affairs Chairman; and PMaj Joel Galeriana, COP of Dimataling in motivating the parties involved to engaged in constructive dialogue to address the longstanding land dispute. Representing their respective clans were Mona Malaco Amis, the head of the Amis Clan; Osmeña Malaco, the head of the Malaco Clan; and Alimudin Maguindanao, the head of the Maguindanao Clan.
The settlement process commenced and culminated in an agreement that satisfied the best interests of each party.
This rido settlement not only paves the way for lasting peace among the clans involved but also sets an example for other communities facing similar challenges. It demonstrates the power of dialogue, negotiation, and compromise in resolving conflicts and fostering unity.
