EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES: Rotary Club of Iligan, Diocese of Iligan, and Army Conduct Medical Mission in Mahayag

The 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) participated in a medical mission initiated by the Rotary Club of Iligan Bay and Diocese of Iligan in Sitio Vargas, Brgy Diwan, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur on May 7, 2023.

The medical mission was spearheaded by Dr. Joesa Jumamoy of Amay Pakpak Hospital together with Sister Marife Vargas of the Diocese of Iligan, Gina Vargas Head of the Rotary Club of Iligan Bay and Brgy. Captain Edwin Berondo. Personnel of 53IB and the 1st Civil-Military Operations “Mahigalaon” Battalion (1CMOBn) also participated in the said activity.

Through this partnership, the medical mission was able to provide immediate medical assistance to the residents, especially those who have limited access to medical services due to financial constraints. This initiative reflects the organizations’ shared goal of promoting the community’s overall wellness by addressing the gaps in their health care needs.

The Rotary Club of Iligan Bay, together with its partners, is committed to providing support to the community by conducting programs that will help uplift their well-being. This medical mission is just one of the many initiatives that the club has organized, and they are looking forward to conducting more programs that will benefit the community in the future.
