LIGHT FOR PEACE: Commemorating Victims of CPP-NPA-NDF’s 54 Years of Atrocities Against the People of Barangay Saad

The residents of Barangay Saad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur headed by Saad Barangay Chairman Hon. Jefferey Señara, held a candle-lighting activity with the theme: “LIGHT FOR PEACE to end the 54 years of extortion, violence and deceptive nature of the NPA” to commemorate the victims of CPP-NPA-NDF’s more than 5 decades of atrocities in a solemn activity held yesterday night, March 28, 2023 at Barangay Saad Barangay Hall, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

The activity was conducted together with Dumingag Mayor and Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) Chairperson Hon. Gerry Paglinawan, Dumingag MLGOO Ms. Ethel Trobanos, Saad Elementary School Teacher-in-Charge Mr. Arnold Salapan, Dumingag Chief of Police PMaj. Glenn Pollescas, PCpt Chester Al Dumangeng – OIC, 52SAC, PNP-SAF, and 53IB’s Bravo Company Commander 1Lt. Jaymar Paderes.

The solemn activity aimed to promote peace and send a message that violence and deception are no longer acceptable in the Barangay. In May 2020, Barangay Saad was declared “clear” of Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) influence through the Army’s Community Support Program (CSP).
