PROMOTING PEACE AND HARMONY: Municipal and Provincial Government Settles Rido of Warring Families in Labangan, ZDS

The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur headed by Gov. Victor J. Yu and the Municipal Government of Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur headed by its mayor Hon. Eduardo Relacion is well on its way towards finally settling the rido between Tagadtal, Masla, and Dading Clans in a momentous reconciliation event held on March 22, 2023, at Barangay Banale Conference Hall, Pagadian City.

The said rido (clan dispute) settlement aim to prevent further unnecessary loss of lives by mediating between the warring families to preempt more bloodshed. The event marks the second time that elders from the involved families meet together to discuss reconciliation. Instrumental in bringing the families together are the support of traditional Muslim leaders especially Zamboanga del Sur Muslim Affairs Chairman Mr. Muztapha Piang; Ulamma Chairman and Region IX Moro Elder, Sheik Esmael Calalagan; the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB); and Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO) headed by its Provincial Director PCol. Diomarie Albarico. The rido settlement demonstrated the parties’ commitment to promoting long-lasting peace and harmony.

Also in attendance were Labangan vice mayor Hon. Asraff Manupac; and Labangan Barangay Chairmen as follows: Hon. Awing Abbas, Lower Sang-an; Hon. Muktar Ungad, Tapodoc; Hon. Mohibat Pagayao, Old Labangan; and Hon. Arisan Guiabar, Upper Sang-an; SB Members Hon. Abdulracman Talumpa and Hon. Sammy Ungad.
