Matapat Troopers Give Thanks to a Year of Convergence and Peace

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) conducted its Year-end Thanksgiving Celebration in a simple Christmas Dinner held yesterday night, December 15, 2022, at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Major David Sabido, Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The thanksgiving celebration was participated by soldiers, CAFGU active auxiliaries, Friends Rescued, and dependents and was joined by the stakeholders of the Battalion. First mass for “simbang gabi” which will take place every night inside Matapat headquarters was also celebrated. Everyone is happy to celebrate the thanksgiving with their families.

The event was made extra special due to the overwhelming support of the Local Government Units throughout the year, particularly the support from the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur headed by Governor Victor J. Yu, 1st district Congresswoman Divina Grace Yu, 2nd district Congresswoman Jeyzel Victoria Yu, and all Mayors of the province.

Gov. Yu, ang Amahan sa Probinsya, provided a morale booster during the Thanksgiving Celebration in the form of raffle prizes for various competitions. These included a refrigerator, television sets, electric fans, rice cookers, and sacks of rice.

53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Terence P. Ylanan conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Gov. Yu and other stakeholders present. Gov. Yu was represented by ZamboSur Provincial Information Officer Mr. Jeesrel Himang.
