SUSTAINING THE PEACE: Skills Training for Friends Rescued (FRs)
The Philippines Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion spearheaded by Lt.Col Terence Ylanan Commanding Officer 53IB together with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Zamboanga del Sur District Office headed by Ms Caril Ann Ong TESD Specialist II held an Opening Ceremony for a 41-day TESDA Training on Carpentry NCII for 14 Friends Rescued and 6 CAFGU Active Auxiliaries who were granted with TESDA scholarship at Matapat Hall, Camp Major David P Sabido, Brgy Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on 02 December 2022.
The said training intends to capacitate the FRs and CAFGU members with skills in carpentry to expand their livelihood potential and become more productive members of society.
In her message, Ms Ong expressed that TESDA is always willing to extend their services and happy to contribute towards the reintegration of the Friends Rescued from the CPP-NPA-NDF to the mainstream society.
On the other hand, Lt.Col Ylanan expressed his gratitude to TESDA Region IX for providing this kind of training that will benefit our Friends Rescued (FRs) and our CAFGU Active Auxiliaries.
Present during the activity were by Norhaina Decampong TESD Specialist II, Eljan May Mantos Support Staff, Maria Bella Ortiz Admin Aide II, Joel Noya General Support Staff, Artemio Tunacao Carpentry Trainer, 1Lt George Yu Jr and Matapat Troopers.
