SUSTAINING THE GAINS:ELCAC Barangay Receives Intervention Programs from Gov’t
The former CPP-NPA influenced and geographically-isolated and disadvantaged barangay of Lisson Valley, Pagadian City received interventions from the Department of Science and Technology IX through its Provincial Science and Technology Office – Zamboanga del Sur in a turnover ceremony held on September 23, 2022.
According to DOST-IX, a total of ₱1,018,111.54 was provided for the interventions which included one (1) unit Rice Mill, Vermi-composting Equipment, and two (2) units of STARBOOKS. Anchored on Executive Order 70, these interventions aim to sustain the gains of National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and provide basic services, employment, and sustainable livelihood.
Present during the event were Lisson Valley Barangay Chairman Hon. Joel Babayson; Technical Educaton and Skills Development Authority – Zamboanga del Sur (TESDA-ZDS) Provincial Director Miraluna N. Baje-Lopez; Provincial Science and Technology Director Gerardo F. Parot; Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Lt. Col. Terence P Ylanan; and Teachers from Lisson Valley Elementary and High School and members of Lisson Valley Farmers and Organic Associations.
Barangay Lisson Valley was declared “clear” of CPP-NPA influence through the Army’s Community Support Program (CSP) on April 29, 2019. It is also a recipient of the Barangay Development Program (BDP), the flagship program of ELCAC which was conceptualized to finally address insurgency by bringing sustainable solutions and basic services to communities in need.
