53IB Welcomes Newly-Assigned Privates

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) formally welcomed the newly-assigned privates who recently graduated from basic military training. “Matapat” unit patches were pinned in today’s flag raising ceremony held at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The unit patches were given by 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Terence P Ylanan.

In his message, Lt. Col. Ylanan encouraged all troops to practice good leadership, even the newly-minted soldiers.

“Good leadership entails that every MATAPAT trooper must strive to take responsibility and the initiative, never failing to lead others towards sustaining the peace in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur,” said Lt. Col Ylanan.
