ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE: 53IB Repeats Excellent Rating in the Annual General Inspection
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) was once again recognized for its excellence as it garnered a percentage rating of 99.31% in the recently-concluded Division-level Annual General Inspection (AGI) on July 25-26 July, 2022, at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Major David Sabido, Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The inspection was conducted by a team from the 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division’s (1ID) Office of the Division Inspector General (ODIG) led by Col. William George Cordova, 1ID’s Inspector General.
The team inspected the unit’s Joint Readiness, Mission Accomplishment, Resource Management, Morale and Welfare of the men, Leadership of the commander, and its accomplishment on the Army Transformation Roadmap, where the 53IB was awarded the Army Governance Pathway Gold Trailblazer Award the previous year.
53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera expressed his grattitude to Col. Cordova and the whole ODIG team for the said recognition.
“In behalf of the officers, men, and women of 53IB, I express my gratitude to the whole ODIG team headed by Col. Cordova for this prestigious recognition,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
“The 53IB shall continue to pursue excellence, and carry out its mandate with passion and dedication to duty,” Lt. Col. Herrera added.
In 2021, the 53IB also received a Certificate of Excellence during the Division-level Annual General Inspection for obtaining a 98.67% percentage rating.
