RECOGNIZING PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE: Matapat Troopers Receive Medals for Dedication to Duty

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) pinned Military Merit Medals (MMM) to its deserving personnel as part of its Flag Raising Ceremony on June 6, 2022 at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

Four (4) personnel received the MMM, namely: Sgt Dan Israel Dumajel, Cpl Jay-r Sulatre, PFC Ermel Pacolba, and PFC Edmund Landero. The award was given for their meritorious and invaluable achievement rendered in support to the mission accomplishment of Western Mindanao Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera pinned the said awards.

In his message, Lt. Col. Herrera encouraged the awardees and the Matapat Troopers to maintain high levels of excellence and passion, and focus on their given tasks now that the New People’s Army’s (NPA) Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) is at the brink of collapse.

“Let us all put our hearts and minds in our given tasks. Let us be one with our operating troops and think how each and everyone of us can contribute to our mission accomplishment,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
