RESOLVED TO MAINTAIN PEACE: 53IB Attends Peace and Order Council Meeting in San Miguel

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) is resolved to keep the peace in San Miguel as it attended the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) Meeting at E-Center, San Miguel, ZDS on 02 May 2022.

The 53IB reiterated that it will not tolerate the existence of armed individuals, assuring that it will do its best to maintain the peace and order in the municipality this election season. 53IB Civil-Military Operations Officer 1Lt. George Yu Jr. also advocated the book Tug of War, a compendium of the feats and achievements of 53IB, ZDS PTF-ELCAC, and stakeholders in defeating the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in Zamboanga del Sur.

In a statement, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said that peace and order is a shared responsibility.

“Peace is a shared responsibility. We will not tolerate the existence of armed individuals as we were tasked to keep the people safe and ensure a peaceful elections,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

Also present during the MPOC Meeting are San Miguel mayor Angelito Martinez II, San Miguel Election Officer Ms. Lucena Pogosa, San Miguel Chief of Police PLt. Purisil Fanilag, San Miguel MLGOO, and the Barangay Chairmen and Chairwomen of San Miguel.
