COMMITTED TO KEEP ELECTIONS SAFE: 53IB, ZamboSur PNP, Coast Guard Send Off Security Forces for 2022 National and Local Elections in Pagadian City

Security forces were sent off to keep elections safe in a Multi-Agency Send-Off Ceremony held in connection with the 2022 National and Local Elections at Camp Maj Reginaldo C Abelon, Lumbia, Pagadian City on May 4, 2022.

Troops of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) with additional forces from the newly-activated 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division Provisional Company, officers from the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZSPPO), and troops from the Philippine Coast Guard were turned-over to the COMELEC through Atty. Robert Dela Peña, the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Election Supervisor.

In a statement, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera asssured the COMELEC that the 53IB will maintain a high level of professionalism in carrying out its mandate this coming elections.

“The 53IB, your Army in Zamboanga del Sur, will remain professional and apolitical. We shall ensure that everyone will be able to practice their right to vote without fear,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

Meanwhile, Atty. Dela Peña urged the security forces to be professional and apolitical in carrying out their duties.”Be professional and apolitical at all times. Together, we shall achieve a safe, accurate, free and fair elections come May 9,” said Atty. Dela Peña.
