The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) held a feeding program in connection with the Iftar Offering “Pabuka” sunset in Sitio Tika, Barangay Poblacion, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur on April 26, 2022, as part of celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadhan in the province.
Troops of 53IB, together with the Imam of the Barangay Uztadz Bong Malali, Brgy Chairman Pinky Bunga, and Brgy Councilors catered 530 Moro people during the said Iftar Offering.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadhan with a community Maghrib evening prayer and meal to break the whole day fasting at sunset. Ramadhan, which started on April 1 this year, is annually observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting prayer, reflection, and service to the community. It commemorates the first spiritual revelation of Prophet Muhammad, one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
