GOING BACK TO THE FOLDS OF LAW: Communist NPA Terrorists Surrender to 53IB
Three (3) Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) voluntarily surrendered to the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) after they expressed their sincere intentions to amend their lives at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The CNTs were identified as: Lareno Enlab Fernan alias Vandam, a resident of Barangay Dilud, Dumingag, ZDS; Norio Tiban Subano alias Jurrie, a resident of Barangay Sinunoc, Dumingag, ZDS; and Danilo Tiban Subano alias Remark, living in the same barangay.
The three were all members of Guerilla Front BBC of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).According to 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, the surrender of the three was made possible through the battalion’s close convergence with Dumingag Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) chaired by Mayor Joan Abejuela.
“The surrender of these three CNTs vouches for the effectivity of Dumingag town’s counterinsurgency plan dubbed as Oplan Amuma,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.Meanwhile, Army’s 102nd Infantry “Igsoon” Brigade Commander BGen. Leonel Nicolas said that the surrender manifests the community’s rejection of communist-terrorist ideology.
“We can now see that the community abhors the communist-terrorist ideology. The surrender of these three is tangible proof that CPP-NPA’s downfall is at hand,” said BGen. Nicolas.
The three are currently undergoing custodial debriefing while the 53IB prepares their documentary requirements for their inclusion to the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and eventually prepare them for their transition to mainstream society.
