ADVOCATING PHYSICAL FITNESS THROUGH BIKING: 53IB Holds Fun Bike 2022

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion continues to advocate physical and mental fitness as it held the Matapat Fun Bike 2022 in connection with its 37th Founding Anniversary Celebration with the theme “Matapat @ 37: Victory in Time of Convergence” at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on January 20, 2022.

With strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols, the Matapat Fun Bike was a friendly biking event with route starting from Pagadian City to 53IB Headquarters in Guipos and was participated by different stakeholders and government agencies in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

The Fun Bike was also participated by Zamboanga del Sur Governor Victor J. Yu, ZamboSur 1st District Congresswoman Divina Grace C. Yu, Ms. Jeyzel Victoria C. Yu, Mr. Johnray C. Yu, and Mr. Joseph C. Yu.

In his message, Governor Yu congratulated the Matapat Troopers for organizing the activity, and the participants for successfully finishing the event.

Meanwhile, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said that the Fun Bike will develop cohesiveness among the participants and increase cardiovascular fitness, among other health benefits.

“We want to raise physical awareness and take time to enjoy the experience of biking,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

The winners of the Matapat Fun Bike 2022 received bike accessories from Winston Motor Parts – Pagadian City.
