FOSTERING CAMARADERIE AND PHYSICAL WELLBEING: 53IB Holds Matapat Fun Run 2022

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) held the Matapat Fun Run 2022 in connection with its 37th Founding Anniversary Celebration with the theme “Matapat @ 37: Victory in Time of Convergence” at 53IB Headquarters, Camp Sabido, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on January 17, 2022.

With strict adherence and implementation of health guidelines and protocols against COVID-19, the Matapat Fun Run was a friendBly race participated by different stakeholders and government agencies in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, and Matapat Troopers.

The Fun Run commenced after the participants for the 21-kilometer run were released which was immediately followed by the 10-kilometer run, 5-kilometer run, and lastly the 3-kilometer run, along Margosatubig – Dumalinao road.

The Fun Run was also participated by Pagadian City First Councilor Sam Tyra Co, who congratulated the organizers and participants of the said activity.

Meanwhile, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said that the Fun Run will raise physical awareness and foster camaraderie between the Matapat Troopers and its stakeholders.

“In our 37th Founding Anniversary, we want to promote physical wellbeing and at the same time strengthen the camaraderie between our stakeholders,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

The 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place runners in the 3-km, 5-km, 10-km, and 21-km categories received medals and cash prizes.
