The Philippine Army’s 53d Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) expressed its appreciation and thankfulness to its stakeholders as it conducted a Gratitude Parade yesterday, January 14, marching around Guipos town, Zamboanga del Sur.

The 53IB exhibited its forces, military vehicles, and capabilities such as its Disaster Response Team while marching around Barangay Poblacion of Guipos – the barangay where the 53IB currently sits.

The Battalion was accompanied by Guipos PNP; PNP’s 52nd Special Action Company, Special Action Force (SAF); ZamboSur PNP’s 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company; and Army’s 547th Engineer Battalion.In a statement, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said that its stakeholders have always been supportive to the unit’s missions, eventually contributing to the declaration of Zamboanga del Sur as insurgency-free and development-ready province.

“We conducted the Gratitude March to remind our stakeholders that ‘This is your Army —an Army you can be proud of.’ We will continue to serve you to the best of our abilities,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
