The Sentrong Alyansa ng Mamamayan Para sa Bayan (SAMBAYANAN) launched its Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Core Group in a program held at Guipos Municipal Gymnasium in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on October 29, 2021.
The Core Group is composed of Former Cadres of the Communist Party of the Philippines — New People’s Army — National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) who returned to the folds of law and now joins the government’s efforts for peace, security, and development.
The activity has seen the presentation of SAMBAYANAN objectives and conceptual framework and heard the first-hand testimonies of Friends Rescued, with the purpose of institutionalizing and realizing the unified peace framework and objectives of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) to counter the terrorism and deceptive schemes of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs).
Started from small group of former CPP-NPA-NDF rebels and cadres, SAMBAYANAN is now a multi-sectoral organization which has served as a campaign and advocacy center promoting reform-centric, collaborative and peaceful means to advance the interests of the Filipino people and rejecting and resisting the terrorism, deceptive and violent armed revolution of the CPP-NPA-NDF.
The said activity was initiated by SAMBAYANAN Regional Chairman Albert Roy Tiondo and was attended by the Friends Rescued (FRs) of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), 53IB’s Executive Officer Cpt. Bahnarin Camsa, and ZamboSur 2nd District Representative Cong. Leonardo Babasa, Jr.
