PERPETUATING PEACE: BDP Projects Unveiled in Lakewood
Another set of Barangay Development Program (BDP) Projects in Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur were once again unveiled by the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ZDS PTF-ELCAC) after the Groundbreaking Ceremony was held last Friday, October 29.
The said groundbreaking ceremony was spearheaded by ZamboSur PTF-ELCAC Chairperson and Governor Victor J. Yu together with Lakewood MTF-ELCAC Chair and Mayor Domingo Mirrar, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera, ZamboSur 1st District Representative Congw. Divina Grace Yu.
The ELCAC projects in Lakewood that broke ground were as follows:
* Concreting of Local Access Road from Purok 1 to Purok 3, Barangay Baking;
* Construction of Local Access Road and Spillway at Purok 4, Barangay Dagum;
* Expansion of Water System at Purok 3, Barangay Dagum;* Construction of Level II Water System at Puroks 1, 2, and 4, Barangay Dagum;
* Construction of Water System Level II at Purok 1 & 3, Barangay Gasa; and* Construction of Water System Level II at Purok 4, Barangay Gasa.
Lakewood has five (5) barangays that are included in the BDP, namely: Barangay Baking, Dagum, Matalang, Gasa, and Tiwales.
All of which are previous conflict-affected barangays and were declared “clear” from the Communist-Terrorist Group (CTG) influence through the Army’s Community Support Program (CSP) in April 2019.
These barangays will receive 20M as part of the BDP, the flagship program of ELCAC which was conceptualized to finally address insurgency by bringing sustainable solutions and basic services to communities in need. In a statement, Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said these projects will perpetuate the peace in Lakewood.
“These BDP projects will help create sustainable solutions for the communities, thereby sustaining the peace and order situation in Lakewood,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
The activity was also participated by DILG LGOO-V Mr. Jerome Loyd M. Ogawan and Ms. Bechel S. Tanguamos, PADS RTA; 547th Engineer Battalion Executive Officer Maj. Aclo, and ZamboSur Provincial Engineer Antonio Laurenciana.
