SUSTAINING PEACE IN MAHAYAG: BDP Project Unveiled in Barangay Paraiso
The Barangay Development Program (BDP) Project in Barangay Paraiso, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur was unveiled by the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ZDS PTF-ELCAC) after the Groundbreaking Ceremony held on October 16, 2021.
The said groundbreaking ceremony for the Concreting of Barangay Road from Purok II to Tulan 1.374km in Barangay Paraiso was spearheaded by ZamboSur PTF-ELCAC Chairperson and Governor Victor J. Yu together with Mahayag Mayor Manuel Saladaga.
Barangay Paraiso is a previous conflict-affected barangay and was declared “clear” from the Communist-Terrorist Group (CTG) influence through the Army’s Community Support Program (CSP) in April 2019.
It will receive 20M as part of the BDP, the flagship program of ELCAC which was conceptualized to finally address insurgency by bringing sustainable solutions and basic services to communities in need.
The activity was also participated by Zamboanga del Sur 1st District Representative Cong. Divina Grace Yu, 53IB’s Bravo Company Commander 1Lt. Niel Kim Garcia, 53IB’s Civil-Military Operations Officer 2Lt. George Yu Jr, DILG-IX LGMED Chief Mr. Jose Ruel Trobanos, and ZamboSur Provincial Engineer Antonio Laurenciana.
