RECOGNIZING CONTRIBUTIONS: Matapat Troopers Awarded During Igsoon Brigade’s Founding Anniversary

Five (5) Matapat Troopers received Military Merit Medals (MMM) as the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) took part in the 48th Founding Anniversary of the Army’s 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade on October 18, 2021.

In his welcome remarks, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera congratulated the Brigade for their 48th Founding Anniversary and expressed his gratitude to 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas.

“We congratulate the 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade for 48 years of enduring commitment to serve the people. We also express our heartfelt gratitude to the 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade under the very able leadership of Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas for the Brigade’s untiring support given to 53IB,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

The awards were given by Brig. Gen. Nicolas to two (2) Officers and three (3) Enlisted Personnel of 53IB for their invaluable contributions to the Brigade’s mission. In his message, Brig. Gen. Nicolas also expressed his gratitude to Lt. Col. Herrera for the warm welcome accorded by 53IB to the Brigade.

He also congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue their passion in serving the people. “Our gratitude also to 53IB under the leadership of Lt. Col. Herrera for the warm welcome accorded to us,” said Brig. Gen. Nicolas.
