CULTIVATING SUCCESS: FRs Learn to Grow White Oyster Mushrooms from Department of Agriculture
The Students of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion’s Project Good Life for Friends Rescued (FR’s) learned mushroom growing from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Mati Branch at Good Life Village, Barangay Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The FR students of the 53IB’s Project Good Life were grouped in to 6 teams according to their interest; Team Coffee, Team Mushroom, Team Soap, Team Swine, Team Chicken and Team Good Life Farm in which they are all part. The Team Mushroom were composed of Seven (7) out of Forty – Two (42) students enrolled in the said 53IB’s Project.
These students were thought by DA Farm Supervisor Acil Buhisan, Science Research Specialist II Ms. Felinieta Tuzon, Science Research Specialist II Ms. Juvy Guatno, DA Research Aide Ms. Arlyn Sanlao, DA Staff Ms. Analiza Ebona in preparing spawn and substrate, incubation, fruiting, and harvesting of mushroom.
The said activity aims to develop a particular skill to a desired standard by instruction and practice that will equipped them in producing and selling of products to make a profit.
