COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS | 53IB Take Part in ZamboSur PTF-ELCAC Coordinating Conference on ELCAC Projects

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) joined the unification efforts of Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) as it held a Coordinating Conference on ELCAC Projects at Balay Bisaya, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City yesterday, October 19.

The said Coordinating Conference will unify and expedite the sustainment efforts of the PTF-ELCAC on the construction of ELCAC projects.The topics discussed were:

1. Presentation of Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Technical Working Group for Social and Environmental Safeguards on Permits, Certifications, and Clearances of Compliance;

2. Issues and Concerns on Field Validation as presented in the Indigenous People (IP) Community Consultation Report with inputs/data from different agencies;

3. Fees and Charges for Permits, Certifications, and Clearances; and

4. Expediting the Issuance of Permits, Certifications, and Clearances from Partner Agencies.

The meeting was also attended by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Provincial Engineer’s Office, Provincial Plans and Development Office, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – IX, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Coconut Authority, Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative, and the Army’s 547th Engineer Battalion.
