Friends Rescued (Former Rebels) Undertake Human Development and Parenting Session

At least 40 FRs (Friend Rescued) students undertook Good life 102: Human Development and Parenting class sessions as part of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion’s Project Good Life for Friends Rescued (FR’s) at Good Life Village, Barangay Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on September 25, 2021.

The FR students were grouped in 6 teams to present their interest in terms of different projects; Team Swine, Team Chicken, Team Mushroom, Team Coffee, Team Soap, and the Team Good Life Farm in which they are all members. The students were given a chance to speak up their mind and convince the rest of the listener on how well they’re going to manage a business on their own.

The entrepreneurial mindset is then measured by the uniqueness, creativity, communication skills, and motivation to succeed, yet open to risk and failure. The facilitators and instructor then recognized students’ progress on their behaviors. Majority have gained their confidence in standing in front of the class and speak up their mind.

The session was facilitated by 53IB’s Project Good Life President Dr. Moibe F. Olitres together with the Good Life facilitators from the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS), Reservists, and the Good Life Staff of 53IB.

Project Good Life for Friends Rescued (FRs) is an inclusive wellbeing psychoeducation program initiated by 53IB in partnership with various organizations and national government agencies that aims to translate the result of initial strength-based research inquiry among former rebels of the 53rd Infantry Battalion to community extension service.

It is a need-based program for FRs to support Executive Order 70 signed by the President which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation approach to end local communist armed conflict in the country.
