APPRECIATING TIRELESS EFFORTS AND DEDICATION TO DUTY: 53IB Commander Bestows Award, Commendation to Matapat Troopers in Far-Flung Patrol Base

The Commander of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera boosted the morale and welfare of Matapat Troopers during his visit at a far-flung patrol base in Barangay Pisompongan in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur on September 9, 2021.

Lt. Col. Herrera bestowed the Military Merit Medal to Technical Sergeant Wanil Gandawali for his meritorious and invaluable achievement rendered in support to the misison accomplishment of Western Mindanao Command, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

A Certificate of Recognition was also presented to CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) securing Barangay Pisompongan and surrounding areas: CAA Dante Tagala, Sabano Balives, Salvino Balives, Antonio Lumingkit, and CAA Allan Tormis, while a Letter of Commendation was given to CAA Reymarc Zita.

The CAAs received these recognitions for their invaluable contributions in keeping Barangay Pisompongan safe from CPP-NPA infiltration and atrocities, thus keeping the community safe from the NPA terrorists.In his message, Lt. Col. Herrera emphasized that the Higher Headquarters does not forget their hardwork and dedication to duty.

“Our Higher Headquarters never forget your efforts as they recognize your invaluable contributions to peace and security. May these inspire you and others. May these commendations keep you motivated to serve the people we all have sworn to protect,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
