PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN | 53IB Distributes 160 Copies of Breaking Free Book in Guipos

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) distributed 160 copies of the book “Breaking Free” to the Municipality of Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur on August 31, 2021.

The books were received by Guipos mayor Vicente Cajeta. The “Breaking Free” book features detailed narrations of actual accounts of young people’s fateful journeys who were recruited and once deceived by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) but were able to surrender and went back to the folds of the law.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation toward becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
