DEVELOPING TECHNICAL SKILLS ON ORGANIC AGRICULTURE: Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Agriculture Office Impart Knowledge on Institutional Development to 53IB’s Project Good Life Students

Zamboanga del Sur’s Provincial Agriculture Office imparted their knowledge on Organic Agriculture and Institutional Development to the Project Good Life students of the Philippines Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB), called Friends Rescued (FRs), at Good Life Village, Poblacion, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.

The lectures were facilitated by Organic Development head Dr. Arlene Zacal, Division Chief Institutional Division and Mr. Aaron Capayas, Agriculturist II.

Organic Agriculture promotes the ecologically sound, socially acceptable, economically viable and technically feasible production of food and fibers as it dramatically reduces external inputs by refraining from the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and pharmaceuticals.

Project Good Life for Friends Rescued (FRs) is an inclusive wellbeing psychoeducation program initiated by 53IB in partnership with various organizations and national government agencies that aims to translate the result of initial strength-based research inquiry among former rebels of the 53rd Infantry Battalion to community extension service.

It is a need-based program for FRs to support Executive Order 70 signed by the President which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation approach to end local communist armed conflict in the country.
