Staff Sergeant Bernardo Biton is a war veteran of the 2000 Campaign against secessionist groups in the island of Mindanao in Southern Philippines.
A proud Scout Ranger, he became part of various military operations as the campaign progressed that aimed to weaken the secessionists’ capability to undermine the territorial integrity of the Philippines and inflict harm on both government personnel and civilians.
“My experience in the Year 2000 Campaign made me the soldier I am today. The scars of war always remind me to always be grateful for another day,” said Staff Sgt. Biton.
Currently residing in Barotac Nuevo in the Province of Iloilo, Staff Sgt. Biton continues to serve his fellow Filipinos with passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to duty as a member of the Philippine Army. He is presently assigned at 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) based in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
