INSPIRING THE YOUTH OF TOMORROW: 53IB Commander Empowers Youth to be Agents of Nation-Building
The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay San Pablo in collaboration with Youth Movement for Change in Action (YMCA), Dumingag PNP, and the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) held Linggo ng Kabataan last August 7-8 highlighting the youth’s role in nation-building, leadership, and environmental consciousness.
During the activity, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera shared the role of the youth in nation-building and youth leadership. “As early as now, you should recognize your roles in nation-building. Recognize that you have the power to make a change.. to make a difference,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.
Under Section 30 of Republic Act No. 10742, the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015 mandates the observance of Linggo ng Kabataan in every municipality, city, and province on the week where the 12th of August coinciding with the International Youth Day (IYD).
This activity also promotes sports activities and youth fellowship as a sense of hope and positivity during the challenges of this pandemic.
