2-Gun Champion

Staff Sergeant Ruel Calayca, Operations Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion Charlie Company, was hailed as the Champion of the recently-concluded 2-Gun Challenge.

The 2-Gun Challenge was initiated by 53IB to enhance the skills competency of the Matapat Troopers in using their R4A3 Carbine Rifle and pistols.

Staff Sgt. Calayca in his 20 years of active military service said the 2-Gun Challenge significantly contributed to his duties as Operations NCO of Charlie Company.

Coming from Lala proper in the Province of Lanao del Norte, Staff Sgt. Calayca said that the 2-Gun Challenge is essential in reinforcing his readiness and preparation so he can better serve the people he has sworn to protect.
