The Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera communicated with Sunop Barangay Captain Sarino Alay regarding the status of the community, government plans and programs, and the barangay development program in which Barangay Sunop is a beneficiary.

Barangay Sunop is included in the Barangay Development Program (BDP) under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and was allotted twenty (20) million pesos (Php 20,000,000.00) for the construction of farm-to-market road (FMR) connecting the barangay’s Purok 4 and Purok 1. The barangay was declared free from communist terrorist influence in April 2019.
