IN PHOTOS | 53IB Commander Inspects Housing Project for Subanen IPs

The Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) inspected the 20-million, 100-unit housing project by the National Housing Authority (NHA) for the Subanen Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in the far-flung barangay of Sunop in Dumingag town, Zamboanga del Sur last July 31.

The NHA, in collaboration with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), started the housing project on November 11, 2019 after Barangay Sunop was declared free from communist terrorist influence in April 2019.

The NCIP shall protect and promote the interest and well-being of the ICCs/IPs with due regard to their beliefs, customs, traditions and institutions.
