FEATURED | 53IB Receives Recognition from LGU Dumalinao

As a token of appreciation, the Municipal Government of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur presented a Plaque of Recognition to the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) on July 19, 2021 for its unwavering support to the rehabilitation of Masjid in Barangay Mama, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

A Masjid, also called a Mosque, is a place of worship for Islam.In her message, Dumalinao mayor Junaflor Cerilles expressed her gratitude to the Army for the said project, saying she is happy that Barangay Mama’s need for Masjid is addressed.

Meanwhile, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera said the turnover ceremony was timely for the Muslim brothers and sisters’ commemoration of Eid al-Adha.

“The 53IB and the Army are one with our Muslim brothers and sisters in commemorating the Eid al-Adha. Surely, this Masjid will be of significant use to them during this significant occasion,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
