CARING FOR THE ENEMY | LGU MTF-ELCAC, ARMY Facilitates Transport of NPA Cadaver in Dumingag

The Dumingag Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) through its counterinsurgency plan dubbed as “Oplan Amuma” and the Philippine Army facilitated the transport of the cadaver of an NPA terrorist from Funeraria Celerian, Barangay San Pablo (Poblacion) to her home in Barangay Saad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on July 6, 2021.

The cadaver of the Communist NPA terrorist, identified as alias An-an, was retrieved by the troops of Army’s 102nd Infantry Brigade (102Bde) after being abandoned by her fellow comrades following a clash with troops on in Sitio Pinis, Barangay Kauswagan, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte on the afternoon of July 4, 2021.

The Matapat Troopers provided area security and extended transportation assistance to the family of alias An-an. The cadaver was accompanied by Saad Barangay Captain Jeffrey Señara, Saad Barangay Kagawad Hon. Robinson Andata, and 53IB Bravo “Boulders” Company Executive Officer 2Lt. Kim Kenneth Beloro.In a statement, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera voiced his sympathy to the family of alias An-an.

“We express our heartfelt sympathies to the family of alias An-an. However, the Army will not stop doing its mandate of protecting the people,” said Lt. Col. Herrera.”We encourage members of Communist-Terrorist Groups to surrender, return to the folds of law, and live their lives anew,” Lt. Col. Herrera added.

Meanwhile, Army’s 97th Infantry Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Manaros Boransing said “It has been over a week since we deployed our troops to track down the armed group in response to reports from concerned citizens of their presence and extortion activities in hinterland barangays of Sergio Osmeña.”Also, Army’s 102nd Infantry Brigade Commander Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas said.

“We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of alias An-an and we are saddened by the fact, that another victim of CTG deception lost her life for the futile cause of the decades-long insurgency, and worse, she was abandoned by her recruiters and comrades.“

“Our troops on the ground carried the cadaver, transported and endorsed to the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) of Dumingag for a decent burial that was denied to her by her comrades,” Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.

This is part of 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
