SHARPENING BATTLE SKILLS: 53IB Capacitates Troops on Seaborne Operations

To sharpen the troops’s skills in the conduct of sea and coastal operations , the Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) facilitated a 5-day Seaborne Operations Training at Tabak Beach, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur from 27 May 2021 to 1 June 2021.

Participated by 5 Enlisted Personnel (EP) and 26 CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs), the training provided the participants with combat skills enhancement including Combat Swimming, Beach Landing, Security Patrol, Sea Patrolling, Clearing Beach Landing Site (BLS), Signaling Method, and Riverine Operations.

The Seaborne Operations Training will capacitate the Matapat Troopers in the conduct of the unit’s coastal security operations to keep the people in its AO safe from piracy, extortion, and other criminal activities.

This Seaborne Operations Training forms part of 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
