53IB FEATS FOR ITS CONTRIBUTION IN THE FIGHT
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) feats for its contributions in the city’s efforts against the corona virus disease (COVID-19) through a resolution from the City Council’s regular session conducted on 16 June 2021.
Resolution No. 2021-1138, sponsored by First City Councilor Sam Tyra Co, commends and recognizes the Officers and men of 53IB through 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera for 53IB’s invaluable support, significant contribution, and active involvement in the city’s fight against COVID-19.
53IB’s COVID efforts include providing security to city vaccinations, the conduct of mobile patrols to ensure proper enforcement of COVID protocols, conduct of information drives regarding the pandemic, and its contribution to the City’s contract tracing efforts.
The unit’s COVID efforts are part of the 53IB’s drive to strategically communicate the Army’s transformation to become world class that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
