HONORING SACRIFICES: 6 Troops Receive Medals for Exemplary Dedication to Duty and Service to Country
A total of 6 troops of Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) received medals for their exemplary dedication to duty during the flag raising held yesterday, 21 June 2021.
The Military Merit Medal (MMM) was awarded to 4 Matapat Troopers for their support to the mission of Western Mindanao Command. The series of combat engagements with Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) resulted to the capture of numerous weapons and war materiel.
The MMM awardees were Technical Sergeants Julius Dormitorio and Reylan Poculan and Staff Sergeants Alling Abduhaji and Ruel Calayca. Furthermore, the Military Commendation Medal (MCM) was also awarded to Sergeant Lemuel Moncada and Jay-ar Castillano for their accomplishment due to the conduct of Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) conducted at the hinterland barangay of Pange, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte. In his message, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera thanked the awardees for their service to God, country, and people.
“The higher headquarters does not forget what you have done for the country, people, and the organization. It is only high time to honor your sacrifices,” Lt. Col. Herrera added.
This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
