FRONTLINE LEADERSHIP | PTF-ELCAC Chair Visits, Inspects, Inspires SCAA Troops

To further harden the coastal security posture of Zamboanga del Sur, Governor and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) chair Victor J. Yu together with Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera inspected and inspired Special CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (SCAA) during their visit at the different Coastal Patrol Bases of the province on June 19-20, 2021.

The visit significantly inspired the troops of coastal patrol bases in Barangay Panubigan, Pitogo; Barangay Pampang, Lapuyan; Barangay Boyugan West, Kumalarang; Barangay Muricay, Pagadian City; Barangay Combo, Labangan; and Barangay Lower Bayao, Tukuran.

Coastal Patrol Bases and the conduct of coastal security operations are critical in sustaining the unit’s Development Support and Security Operations (DSSO) in its Area of Operations (AO).

Also to support the conduct of Law Enforcement and Support Operations (LESO), the said coastal security operations will prevent pirates and criminal groups from conducting piracy, atrocities, extortion, and criminal activities targeting innocent civilians.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to strategically communicate the Army’s transformation to become world class that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
