HOMECOMING | 53IB Welcomes Former Commander
The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) welcomed its former commander Col. Marlowe Patria during his visit at this headquarters to discuss about the unit’s efforts on Information Operations last June 14.
Col. Patria was briefed on the interplay of Infantry Battalion Operations and Information Operations including 53IB’s best practices which contributed to the dismantling of Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in its Area of Operations (AO).
Information Operations and Information Dominance play a crucial role in communicating the government’s efforts in addressing communist terrorism especially to the communities in far-flung barangays.
To dominate the information environment, the 53IB continuously conducts information campaign activities such as Radio Program Operations, Loudspeaker Operations, Social Media Operations, emplacement of tarpaulins, leafletting, book publishing and distribution, and website maintenance, and the activation of Strategic Communications Cluster of the Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (TF-ELCAC).
Col. Patria is currently taking his Masters in National Security Administration (MNSA) at the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP). He was succeeded by Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera as Commanding Officer of 53IB on March 5, 2020.
