The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) applauded deserving Matapat Troopers yesterday June 12.
During the flag ceremony held yesterday morning in commemoration of the country’s 123rd Independence Day, the 53IB recognized and awarded the Physical Proficiency Award to Matapat Troopers who garnered an average rating of 90% in the recently concluded Quarterly Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
A total of 9 Matapat Troopers received the recognition. In a message given by Sgt Rojas Francisco, one of the recognized for achieving a high PFT rating, he said this is the first time he was recognized for such performance.”Twenty-four years of service and this is the first.
Thank you sir [Lt. Col. Herrera] for recognizing me,” said Sgt. Rojas Francisco.”Recognition ceremonies such as these is one way of thanking our troops. You all deserve this recognition,” said 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera.
This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
