HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE | LGU, 53IB Help Flood Victims in Bayog, ZDS

The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur together with Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) helped the flood victims of Typhoon Crising in Barangays Dimalinao and Damit, Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur last June 11.

Barangay Dimalinao was hit the hardest and is considered as the ground zero of typhoon Crising. Residents sought safety as the flood swept away houses and submerged rice fields.

The Provincial Government led by Governor Victor Yu together with 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera provided food packs to the residents of the said barangays.

Also present in the relief operations are Provincial Social Welfare and Development chief Ermelina Bacatan, Barangay Captains of Damit and Dimalinao, and Board Members Dang Mariano, John Regala, Raul Famor, and Marilou Vidad.

Humanitarian assistance and relief operations such as this is part of the 53IB’s drive to strategically communicate the Army’s transformation to become world class that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
