LOOK | Pandemic Prevention in Hinterland Sitio

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) conducted community engagement activities and Giving of Facemasks at Sitio Lacnapan, Barangay Guibo, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte on June 6, 2021.

The residents participated delightedly in the community engagement activities and the giving of face masks held by a team from 53IB’s Alpha “Archers” Company led by Sgt Jayson Abara.
According to United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the wearing of facemasks help protect the wearer and those around him, though it is not a substitute for social distancing.
Aside from face masks, the Matapat Troopers also distributed various kinds of merchandise to the residents.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
