Promoting Health Security: NGO, Government Agencies, 53IB Collaborate to Fight Tuberculosis Amid COVID Pandemic

Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur — In strict observance of current pandemic protocols, the Maranao People Development Center (MARADECA), Inc. in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Inc. and Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) conducted Active Case Finding (ACF) activities in this headquarters last June 4-5, 2021.

ACF activities are part of the implementation of Advancing Client Centered Care and Expanding Sustainable Services for Tuberculosis, or “ACCESS TB” Project, aiming to decrease TB deaths and incidents. A total of seventy-two (72) troops, Friends Rescued (FRs), CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs), and dependents of the Matapat Troopers participated in the activity.

This program is aligned with the DOH-issued Administrative Order 2020-0056 entitled “National TB Control Program Adaptive Plan (NAP) for COVID-19 the Pandemic” to provide doable measures and adjustments to TB care guidelines in ensuring the sustainability of cascading amidst the present pandemic.
