INFORMATION DRIVE VS. NPA | 53IB Distributes 100 Copies of Breaking Free Book in San Miguel, ZDS

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) distributed 100 copies of the Breaking Free From Communist Deception Book to the Municipality of San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur on May 12, 2021.San Miguel Mayor Angelito Martinez Jr. received the copies from 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera.

The Breaking Free Book features detailed narrations of actual accounts of young people’s fateful journeys who were recruited and once deceived by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) but were able to surrender and went back to the folds of the law.

“We are one with the Army in disseminating information against the deceptions of the communist. Our youth should be aware of the dangers of joining the CPP-NPA,” Mayor Martinez said.

“It will be a great help to spread the information to communities in preventing recruitments and to stop the illegal activities of the CPP-NPA,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation toward becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
