VAWC DISCUSSED IN LECTURE: Matapat Troopers Assert Women, Children Welfare

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) conducted a lecture on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) at 53IB Charlie “Colossus” Company Command Post in Barangay Gasa, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur on May 21, 2021.

Among the topics that were discussed during the lecture include the following: Physical, Sexual, Emotional or Psychological, and Economic or Financial Abuse; Who can complain; What are the offenses punishable by RA 9262; Who can be charged with RA 9262; Protection Order from the Barangay or Cour; Effectivity of Barangay Protection Order; Temporary and Permanent Protection Order; and the Reasons Why the Abused Woman should be Assisted.

The lecture was facilitated by 53IB Charlie Company Commander 1Lt. Alvin Ibarra, Executive Officer 2Lt. Kim Cedrick Lemus, and Cpl. Jerefel Maglinte.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
