53IB, Bayog LGU Reaffirms Partnership for Peace, Security

The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur reaffirmed partnerships and collaborations for peace and security in a meeting held on May 11, 2021.

The meeting was attended by Bayog Municipal Mayor Celso Matias, 53IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col Jo-ar Herrera, Intelligence Officer 1Lt. Maverick Rey Mira, Logistics Officer 1Lt. Jerick Christian Papa, Operations Officer 1Lt. Jonathan Cernitchez, Charlie Company Commander 1Lt. Alvin Ibarra, and 44IB Charlie Company Commander 1Lt. Rhendel Salazar.

Among the topics that were discussed during the meeting include: New Area of Operations of 53IB Charlie “Colossus” Company, which covers the seven (7) municipalities of Guipos, Dumalinao, San Miguel, San Pablo, Tigbao, Lakewood, and Bayog, and Pagadian City; Security Situation Updates; Schedule of Better Life Program for CAFGUs and their dependents in Bayog; and Community Engagements in Barangays in Bayog.

This activity is part of the 53IB’s drive to pursue transformation to become a world class Army that is a source of national pride by 2028 in line with the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR).
